The Return of the Vampire (1943)

I watched this 1943, sorta sequel to Dracula, The Return of the Vampire by Columbia Pictures on Svengoolie. The story starts in World War I and the vampire Armand Tesla is staked in the heart and buried. Twenty four years later, now World War II, bombs upset the cemetery and Tesla is unearthed and a groundskeeper unwittingly removes the stake and horror ensues. Because Universal owned Dracula this is not the official sequel but Bela Lugosi (1931 Dracula, and lots of monster movies), portrays Dracula, I mean Tesla in the this movie.

The movie also stars Frieda Inescort (The She-Creature, Darby’s Rangers, The Alligator People), Nina Foch (Escape in the Fog, An American in Paris, The Ten Commandments, Spartacus, and she was the victim in Columbo’s first film),

Roland Varno (from the Netherland appeared in dozens of movies and on TV series including Space Patrol, the Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok and 77 Sunset Strip) and Miles Mander (Tarzan’s New York Adventure, Apache Trail, Phantom of the Opera).

The movie was directed by Lew Landers (Inner Sanctum, Jungle Manhunt, The Magic Carpet, Jungle Jim in the Forbidden Land) and produced by Sam White (one of the famous White Brothers film and television pioneers).

This movie is good and I will give it 2.8 out of 5 stars. For more information read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
