Don Kennedy “Officer Don” Dies

In 1966 Officer Don (Don Kennedy of WSB-TV’s Popeye Club) made appearances at Storyland with “Orville the Green Dragon” puppet.

Officer Don and the Popeye Club gained popularity in the 1950s and 1960s and was broadcast in various regions, particularly in the southeastern United States. Don Kennedy, as Officer Don, became a beloved figure among young viewers, known for his energetic and engaging hosting style. The show provided entertainment and educational content for children, fostering a sense of community and fun.

My Favorite Albums – Free – Concrete Blonde

Up through the cracks, Up through the broken glass
In the hot red light of a black and white, Roses grow

I went with some friends from work to a restaurant in Sandy Springs, Georgia back in May of 1989 where 96 Rock was sponsoring a trivia contest. Our team won and we got a bunch of radio station swag and cassettes of the new album by a band I’d never heard of, Concrete Blonde. I have been a fan ever since that night.

Live Hits: Turn the Page – Bob Seger

Most times you can’t hear ’em talk, other times you can
All the same old clichés, is that a woman or a man?
And you always seem outnumbered, you don’t dare make a stand

There are some songs that were bigger, sometimes a Billboard hit, in their concert recorded version. They may have a studio-recorded counterpart but the live version, in this case, was bigger. I’ll stay away from the ones that have a “fake” live audience. The last criteria, it has to be a favorite of mine.
