Acute Diarrhea

Diarrhea is loose, watery stools (bowel movements). You have diarrhea if you have loose stools three or more times in one day. Diarrhea lasting more than a few days may be a sign of a more serious problem.

In the U.S., approximately 179 million cases of acute diarrhea occur annually. Acute diarrhea is a common gastrointestinal disorder characterized by the passage of loose, watery stools three or more times per day.
