Chlordane is a synthetic organochlorine pesticide that was once widely used in the United States and many other countries for agricultural pest control, lawn and garden applications, and especially termite treatment around homes and buildings. Chemically, it is a chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticide developed during the post–World War II expansion of industrial chemistry, an era when powerful synthetic pesticides were viewed as
