This is the 2nd of my Omni concert posts, the 70s, now the 80s and next I’ll complete the set with the 90s

The Omni Coliseum was constructed in 1972 with 17,500 seats. The dramatic exterior of the building is unpainted Cor-Ten steel, which has oxidized to form a self-sealing coating. In my first post, I covered the concerts held there during the 70s. When I came to the Omni, if I had time, I would eat at the Chick-fil-A just inside the Omni International Hotel. Let’s get started with the 80s.

The Omni Coliseum – 70s Concerts

The Omni was considered an architectural marvel that combined innovative roof, seating, and structural designs.

The Omni Coliseum was an indoor arena in Atlanta, Georgia. Completed in 1972, the arena seated 16,378 for basketball and 15,278 for hockey. It was part of the Omni Complex, now known as the CNN Center. And yes it is just the “Omni” to all of us, the Omni Coliseum was just the official moniker.
