Tom Shipley, Viv Prince, Jeff Meldrum, and Polly Holliday Dies

These individuals have performed in the highly successful rock band, Brewer and Shipley; was the drummer for the band the Pretty Things; was an American anthropologist and academic, an expert on foot morphology and locomotion in primates; and was an actress in movies such as All the President’s Men, Gremlins and Mrs. Doubtfire, and played the character Flo, in the television series Alice and Flo.

Mike Brewer Dies

Brewer & Shipley gained prominence with their third album, “Tarkio,” released in 1970.

Michael Brewer, born on April 14, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was the eldest of four children. His musical journey began early; by the age of four, he was already performing on the radio. In the mid-1960s, Brewer moved to Los Angeles, where he formed a duo named Mastin & Brewer with singer-songwriter Tom Mastin.

Tokes (Part One)

“the smell of death surrounds you”

A toke refers to the act of inhaling a puff from a cigarette, cigar, or pipe, most commonly associated with smoking cannabis. When someone takes a toke, they inhale the smoke or vapor into their lungs, allowing the active substances—such as nicotine or THC (the psychoactive compound in cannabis)—to be absorbed.
