My Favorite Songs About Famous People (Part 1)

“Vincent,” written and performed by American singer-songwriter Don McLean, was released in 1971 on his landmark album American Pie. The song, sometimes subtitled “Starry, Starry Night,” is a poignant tribute to the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh, whose tragic life and luminous art deeply moved McLean.

Kurt Cobain

His struggles with addiction and mental health were well-documented and heavily impacted his personal and professional life.

Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 20, 1967, in Aberdeen, Washington. His parents, Wendy and Donald Cobain, struggled financially, which created a tumultuous environment for Kurt and his sister Kim. Kurt was a sensitive and artistic child who showed an early interest in music and art. He began singing at a young age and started playing the guitar at age 14.

Queen – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame

My 2nd inductee of 2024 and my 21st overall.

Queen, one of the most iconic rock bands in history, was formed in London in 1970. The band’s classic lineup consisted of Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), Roger Taylor (drums, vocals), and John Deacon (bass). Each member brought a unique musical background and prior band experience to Queen, contributing to their distinctive sound and success.

Songs and Beverages (Part One)

Musically, it features a slow, brooding tempo with haunting guitar riffs by Jimmy Page and emotionally charged vocals by Robert Plant.

Names of beverages in songs are sometimes used to symbolize emotions through a state of mind. There are no shortage of songs that have this affliction. I’m going to talk about a few of my favorites in these posts and maybe list some of the low hanging fruit as we go along. I hope you enjoy!
