Australia’s Ice Breaker RSV Nuyina

Nuyina (pronounced “noy-yee-nah”). The name is the word in the palawa kani language of the Tasmanian aborigines for the southern lights.

Nuyina is a supply ship, research vessel, and icebreaker all rolled into one, it’s a unique and impressive ship that will bring supplies to Antarctic research bases. During these long trips, scientists will complete plenty of research themselves with new technologies on this cutting-edge ship.

Whiteout (2009)

I watched the 2009 crime thriller Whiteout on Netflix DVD. It is based on the 1998 comic book by Greg Rucka and Steve Lieber. I had not read the comic or seen a review on this film prior to my viewing. I liked the movie, was not disappointed in the least. It is just 90 minutes and I was entertained the whole time. I’ll just say that I am in the minority. Whiteout is about a US Marshall, Kate Beckinsale, who is trying to solve a murder mystery on a South Pole station before being evacuated in just three days.
