David Gates was an American singer, songwriter, and producer best known as the lead vocalist and primary songwriter for the soft rock band Bread, which achieved major success in the 1970s with hits like “Make It with You,” “Baby I’m-a Want You,” and “Everything I Own.”
Both the drummer and singer, a rare combination in rock music.
Singing lead and playing drums simultaneously is one of the great feats in popular music. Here I’ll post about some of the artists that make it work. The drummer is typically relegated to the rear, but here we’ll find some that should be right out front.
A white christmas is something we rarely get here near Atlanta, Georgia. The tune though has been around all my life. The song “White Christmas” was written by Irvin Berlin[1] for the 1942 musical film Holiday Inn[2]. The composition won the Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 15th Academy Awards.
