The Horse – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame – Telstar Award

Initially, Cliff Nobles recorded a vocal track titled “Love Is All Right”, but the instrumental B-side, “The Horse,” unexpectedly became the hit.

“The Horse” is a classic instrumental soul track by Cliff Nobles & Co., released in 1968 on the label Phil-L.A. of Soul. Although credited to Cliff Nobles, the track doesn’t feature his vocals; instead, it spotlights the infectious brass section of the backing band, MFSB (Mother Father Sister Brother)1—a group of top-notch session musicians based in Philadelphia.

Holland-Dozier-Holland – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame – Songwriters Award

My second inductee(s) for my Songwriters Award is another team, this time Holland-Dozier-Holland.

Holland-Dozier-Holland (H-D-H) was a highly successful songwriting and production team in the 1960s, responsible for creating numerous hit songs for the legendary Motown record label. The trio consisted of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland.
