These guys were the long time drummer for the rock band ZZ Top; an actor, often cast as a mafioso, best known for his role in The Sopranos; an actor/politician best known as Cooter in the Dukes of Hazzard; and a soul-jazz and hard bop tenor saxophonist, known as the tenor saxophone soloist on Henry Mancini’s “The Pink Panther Theme”.

Frankie Beverly Dies

Beverly’s family announced the news on social media, saying in a statement that he lived his life with “pure soul”.

Frankie Beverly is a renowned American singer, musician, songwriter, and producer, best known as the frontman for the band Maze, which became one of the most influential groups in the genres of R&B, soul, and funk. Beverly’s smooth, distinctive voice and heartfelt lyrics have resonated with audiences for decades, particularly through the signature sound of Maze, which blends soulful melodies with themes of love, joy, and resilience.

Holland-Dozier-Holland – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame – Songwriters Award

My second inductee(s) for my Songwriters Award is another team, this time Holland-Dozier-Holland.

Holland-Dozier-Holland (H-D-H) was a highly successful songwriting and production team in the 1960s, responsible for creating numerous hit songs for the legendary Motown record label. The trio consisted of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland.
