Lyrical: Shooting Star (Part One)

These are songs that contain the phrase “shooting star” in their lyrics.

“Xanadu” is a 1980 song performed by Olivia Newton-John with Electric Light Orchestra, written and produced by Jeff Lynne, and created specifically for the musical fantasy film Xanadu, in which Newton-John starred and ELO appeared in animated form. The song was conceived as a modern pop reimagining of the mythical Xanadu as an idealized place of artistic inspiration,

Lyrical: State Names (Part One)

These are songs that contain States names in the lyrics or title.

“I’ve Been Everywhere” is a rapid-fire novelty song originally written in 1959 by Australian country singer-songwriter Geoff Mack, who crafted it as a tongue-twisting travelogue listing dozens of towns across Australia, but it was later adapted to American geography in 1962 by Hank Snow,

Jimmy Swaggart, Rick Hurst, Lalo Schifrin, and Mick Ralphs Dies

Early summer of 2025 has taken 4 more rememberable people that I’ll take a look at here.

These guys were televangelist, gospel singer, and author; played Deputy Cletus Hogg on The Dukes of Hazzard; composed the music for movies like Cool Hand Luke and The Amityville Horror, and TV like Hawaii 5-0; and wrote songs and played guitar for Mott the Hoople and Bad Company.

Alison Krauss & Union Station

The voice of an angel

by Doyle Tatum

Melody Hill was the Circle Sky Records official magazine while we were open between 2002 and 2010. This is the color cover of issue number 3. The photo was taken by me before Circle Sky even opened. We were at my house painting the LP, CD, and 45 stands for the new store. I had some primer left in the spray gun and while cleaning it out I painted Circle Sky on the side of my shed. I thought it would be funny to make it look like Donnie Thompson and Richard Golden had gotten in trouble for this and were being made clean it off!

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Glen Campbell checks all the boxes as a talented, influential musician who sold a lot of records and was revered by his peers. He’s also an underrated guitar player and one of the most gifted artists whose reputation in Nashville is stellar.

I’m not a fan. The building is cool. I’ve been there, it was nice. The exhibits were spectacular and I highly recommend that you visit if you’re in Cleveland, Ohio. Do I think they are doing a good job with the inductees? No.

I agree with Black Sabbath superstar Ozzy Osborne who said…
