I’ll be inducting some of the pioneers of bubblegum music and awarding them “Gummy Awards”.
One of my favorite types of music has always been Bubblegum. I remember getting Mother to take me to the Sandy Springs, Georgia, K-Mart[1] (the closest one to Alpharetta at the time) to buy the first Archies album on its release day.

Hello Melody Hill readers. This issue is all about that wonderful musical invention called a record. Vinyl collectors and fans have a culture that is all their own. So if your universe spins at 33 or 45 this issue is dedicated to you. For this issue, we decided to ask the Circle Sky Staff to name the first album that changed their musical world. We then asked some of our musician friends to do the same and the results are

The cover for this issue was drawn by the Circle Sky store manager, and my good friend, Donnie Thompson.
A 38th anniversary look at The Beatles concert at Atlanta Stadium

Melody Hill was the Circle Sky Records official magazine while we were open between 2002 and 2010.
This was the lead article for this issue so we created this Beatles in Atlanta stadium cover. Donnie found a great image of the cartoon Beatles performing and we placed them in an actual photo of Atlanta Stadium. We relaced that banner contents with “Circle Sky” and that was about all there was to it.

Melody Hill was the Circle Sky Records official magazine while we were open between 2002 and 2010. For issue number 5 we used the namesake of our fanzine, The Archies 45 “Melody Hill”. This was the b-side of their 1969 smash hit “Sugar Sugar”. This great song was released on November 14, 1969, and was written by Ritchie Adams & Mark Barkan. It was recorded at RCA Studio A, New York City with the beautiful vocal stylings of Ron Dante.

Melody Hill was the Circle Sky Records official magazine while we were open between 2002 and 2010. We took a series of pictures of items strategically placed on a white piece of Coroplast with another piece of Coroplast as the background. Coroplast is a chemically inert, extremely durable polypropylene copolymer, extruded twin-wall fluted plastic sheet. It is resistant to water and we used them all the time to make signs advertising the record store. All the items on display were from Donnie’s personal collection.
Go out and buy this four-piece powerhouse of rock’n’roll from Nashville, Tennessee.

The Green Pajamas formed in the spring of 1984 when Jeff Kelly and Joe Ross recorded and released their first album, Summer Of Lust, pioneering Seattle’s answer to the Los Angeles Paisley Underground scene.
