David Lynch Dies

David Lynch, the Oscar-nominated director of surrealistic films including “Eraserhead,” “Blue Velvet” and “Mulholland Drive,” and the co-creator of the cult drama series “Twin Peaks,” has passed away.

David Keith Lynch was born on January 20, 1946, in Missoula, Montana, to Donald Walton Lynch, a U.S. Department of Agriculture research scientist, and Edwina “Sunny” Lynch, an English tutor. Raised in a middle-class family, Lynch’s childhood was marked by frequent relocations due to his father’s job, living in various small-town settings across Idaho, Washington, and Virginia.

Steve Lawrence Dies

Steve Lawrence, born Sidney Liebowitz on July 8, 1935, was an American singer and actor renowned for his contributions to the entertainment industry. was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Jewish parents. His father, Max, was a cantor at the Brooklyn synagogue Beth Sholom Tomchei Harav, and his mother, Helen, was a homemaker.

Mele Kalikimaka

Mele Kalikimaka (Meh-le Keh-liki-makah) is Hawaiian for “Merry Christmas”. In the song, by the same name, I’ve always had a mondegreen, misheard lyrics in the song. I thought they were saying “Mele Kalikimaka is the wise way to say Merry Christmas to you” when the correct lyric is “Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii’s way to say Merry Christmas to you”

(Everybody’s Waitin’ for) The Man with the Bag

He’s got a sleighful, it’s not gonna stay full

The first time I heard this Christmas song was from Kellie Pickler, the fifth season American Idol contestant. She is a country music singer, songwriter, and television personality. Her 2013 single is great and I just assumed it was her original song until our pharmacist Kelly said it was an old song.
