Heart – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame

My third inductee of 2024, a band I’ve seen in concert several times.

Heart is an American rock band that rose to fame in the mid-1970s and continued to achieve success over the ensuing decades. The band is particularly known for its strong lead vocals and distinctive guitar work, spearheaded by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. Their music spans various genres including rock, hard rock, and folk rock, characterized by powerful ballads and energetic rock anthems.

Songs and Beverages (Part One)

Musically, it features a slow, brooding tempo with haunting guitar riffs by Jimmy Page and emotionally charged vocals by Robert Plant.

Names of beverages in songs are sometimes used to symbolize emotions through a state of mind. There are no shortage of songs that have this affliction. I’m going to talk about a few of my favorites in these posts and maybe list some of the low hanging fruit as we go along. I hope you enjoy!

Flowers have a deeper meaning than just being beautiful to look at. Every flower has its own set of qualities attached to it. Flowers are a symbol of love, good luck, happiness and prosperity. When a woman wears the flower in her hair, it is believed that it will bring happiness to her household. They’ve inspired many a song.

My Favorite Drummers (Part One)

His technical mastery and dynamic drumming style have left an indelible impact on progressive rock.

I have always been a fan of the drums. I had a snare drum as a kid and one of my friends from Milton High School, Tommy Mulkey, was an incredible drummer. As a child, one of my favorite Christmas songs was “The Little Drummer Boy”. I thought I would list some of my all-time favorite drummers for my blog.

Covers – by Deep Purple

I will discuss a whole album of covers by the band Deep Purple this time. It is called Turning to Crime and was released on November 21, 2022. The album was created following a suggestion by Bob Ezrin, who has been Deep Purple’s producer since 2013.

Paul McCartney – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame

My second 2023 inductee, 14th overall, is Sir Paul McCartney. He is the first to be in my hall twice, once for The Beatles and now for his post-Beatle career.

The Beatles’ bassist, vocalist, and songwriter would continue solo beginning in 1970 at the sign of the break-up of the band. He would release his first LP, McCartney, a month before the release of The Beatles’ swansong Let It Be. The album, rich with experimentation, has McCartney performing all instruments and vocals himself, aside from some backing vocals performed by Linda McCartney. It also contained the song, “Maybe I’m Amazed”.

Jethro Tull is a British rock band formed in Blackpool, England, in 1967. Initially playing blues rock and jazz fusion, the group’s bandleader, founder, primary composer, and only constant member is Ian Anderson, a multi-instrumentalist who mainly plays flute and acoustic guitar, and is also the lead vocalist.

Album Art – Joe Petagno

When you think of Led Zeppelin you get the image of the iconic Icarus Swan Song logo that is so closely associated with Jimmy Page and company. It’s the perfect image for a band like Led Zeppelin, a timeless piece of art that just feels right in the lore of classic rock.

This is where I’ll be talking about the Album Art that I like. That is one of the benefits of 12″ vinyl albums, the cool packaging that surrounded the record. Here I’ll research the creations that we all loved as children, teenagers, and adults. I’ll try to find as much information on the artists as I can.
