My Favorite Albums – #1 Record – Big Star

#1 Record, the debut album by the American rock band Big Star, was released in August 1972 by Ardent Records. At the time, Big Star was composed of Alex Chilton, Chris Bell, Andy Hummel, and Jody Stephens. Song Analysis: Yellow Submarine

Full steam ahead, Mister Boatswain, full steam ahead

“Yellow Submarine” is a song by the Beatles, released on their 1966 album “Revolver.” Written primarily by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon-McCartney songwriting partnership, the song was sung by Ringo Starr and is known for its whimsical lyrics and catchy melody. It also served as the title track for the band’s 1968 animated film and its soundtrack album.

Lennon and McCartney – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame – Songwriters Award

My first inductee(s) for my Songwriters Award is Lennon and McCartney, John Lennon’s 2nd time and Paul McCartney’s 3rd time into Doyle’s Space Music Hall of Fame.

Lennon and McCartney complemented one another as personalities and as musicians. McCartney’s melodic facility smoothed over some of Lennon’s rougher edges. Lennon’s grit added texture and leavened some of McCartney’s more saccharine tendencies.
