Albert’s Hippy Sippy

The product reflected and exploited the psychedelic themes and rebellion of the era.

Albert’s Hippy Sippy was a controversial novelty candy released in the late 1960s by the Albert Candy Company, based in Stamford, Connecticut. Emerging at the height of the counterculture movement, the product reflected and exploited the psychedelic themes and rebellion of the era. Hippy Sippy consisted of a small, colorful plastic syringe filled with tiny candy pellets, often multicolored and vaguely resembling pills or drugs.

Bobby Whitlock, Danielle Spencer, Terry Reid, and Chuck Girard Dies

Several more have passed this summer of 2025.

These individuals have been in Delaney & Bonnie and co-founded Derek & the Dominos; played Dee in What’s Happening!! (1976–1979); was nicknamed “Superlungs”, and turned down lead singer for Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple; and was a pioneering musician in the realm of Contemporary Christian Music.

MKUltra

Many of the MKUltra experiments involved unwitting American citizens, who were often administered LSD without their knowledge or consent.

Project MKUltra was a clandestine program run by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that began in the early 1950s. The project’s roots trace back to the post-World War II era, when the U.S. government became increasingly concerned about the potential use of mind control and brainwashing by the Soviet Union, China, and North Korea.

Ergot Fungi: Saint Anthony’s Fire

There is a theory that the Salem witch trials were partially caused by ergot poisoning (St. Anthony’s Fire).

Ergot fungi, belonging to the genus Claviceps, primarily infect cereal grains and grasses. Ergot fungi are believed to have evolved alongside grasses, their primary hosts. The co-evolution with grasses has enabled them to develop sophisticated mechanisms for infection and dispersal.
