My Favorite Songs That Mention Things You Wear (Part 1)

This is a series of posts that will talk about my favorite songs that mention clothing in their title or lyrics. See if you agree with any of these!

“Sharp Dressed Man” is a 1983 song by ZZ Top, written by the band’s three members—Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard—and produced by Bill Ham for their multi-platinum album Eliminator. Blending blues-rock roots with the sleek, synthesized polish of 1980s production, the song celebrates male style, confidence, and swagger through a humorous

Genesis – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame

Several big name acts and musicians would be forthcoming from this group!

Genesis, the English progressive rock band that would become one of the most commercially successful and artistically influential acts in rock history, formed at the end of the 1960s amid the creative ferment of British public school culture. The group originated at Charterhouse School in Surrey in 1967, where two separate songwriting duos—Peter Gabriel and Tony Banks on one side, and Anthony Phillips and Mike Rutherford on the other.

Lyrical: “7” or “Seven” (Part One)

These are songs that contain the word, or number, 7 in their lyrics.

“You Never Give Me Your Money” is a song by The Beatles, written primarily by Paul McCartney (though credited to Lennon–McCartney), and first released on their 1969 album Abbey Road. It serves as the opening track of the album’s climactic medley on side two, transitioning from a melancholic piano ballad into shifting

Song Meanings: Jeremy

Jeremy spoke in class today

“Jeremy” is one of the most iconic songs by the American rock band Pearl Jam, released as the third single from their debut album, Ten, in 1991. Radio Favorites – Christmas Is The Time To Say ‘I Love You’

On the corner carolers are singing, There’s a touch of magic in the air

As a record collector, I went out and hunted down a lot of my favorites but obviously came nowhere near getting them all. These are some of the favorites that I didn’t own at the time.

My Favorite Albums – Free – Concrete Blonde

Up through the cracks, Up through the broken glass
In the hot red light of a black and white, Roses grow

I went with some friends from work to a restaurant in Sandy Springs, Georgia back in May of 1989 where 96 Rock was sponsoring a trivia contest. Our team won and we got a bunch of radio station swag and cassettes of the new album by a band I’d never heard of, Concrete Blonde. I have been a fan ever since that night.

My Favorite Albums – A Different Light – The Bangles

Walking down your street, with a love that I can’t hide
I’ve got one thing on my mind, yeah, I’ll even sacrifice my pride

My second favorite album, by The Bangles, is their January 2, 1986 “Different Light”. It came about 1 1/2 years after their debut studio album “All Over The Place“. “Different Light”, on Columbia Records, would be their most successful album reaching number 2 on the Billboard 200. Five singles were released from this album.

Michael Nesmith Dies

Play the drum a little louder, Tell me I can live without her, If I only listen to the band.

Today a part of me was ripped away. In my childhood, I was a huge Monkees fan. I watched every episode as they aired and recorded the audio of each with my Radio Shack cassette recorder. Following the show, I would play that tape over and over and over and over.
