Rocket Launch 01/18/2025

CATO of a D12-5 motor!

There was rain early Saturday morning but the weather report lowered the chance to slim for the afternoon so we gave it a try. The sun tried to peek out but pretty much failed. The temperature was around 56 and the winds blew from 10-15 mph. Overall we had a good launch and a lot of fun as usual.

Rocket Launch 08/03/24

Vernon Estes, born on September 19, 1930, and passed away on August 1, 2021, was an American entrepreneur and pioneer in model rocketry.

It was another hot day, so we decided to meet at 9am, ahead of the afternoon heat. There was no wind to speak of, so the rockets didn’t drift too far. We had just enough of a breeze to be comfortable in the shade of our canopies. It was a great day of flying rockets once again.

Rocket Launch 04/20/2024

There was a couple of eroneous flights including a loud and spectatular CATO of a C11-0.

Another nice day, a little hot, but there was a cooling breeze. It was mostly cloudy with the clouds thinning out by days end. Ken Frye, who has been ill, came by to check out the festivities and we spent a good while catching up with him. There was a couple of eroneous flights including a loud and spectatular CATO of a C11-0.

Rocket Launch 03/02/2024

Including a spectacular (and odd) CATO

It rained all day Friday and into early Saturday morning, followed by a heavy fog. We decided late Saturday morning to give the launch a try. Although overcast a good bit of the day, it was about 64 degrees with hardly any wind. Besides the ground being mushy, it was a great day to launch rockets, with most landing near the pad.

B14-0 Cato’s on staged flight of an Estes Drifter

We got together for a rocket launch on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. It was pretty hot but the wind wasn’t as bad as it had been at the last couple of launches. The guys got three new Astocam videos that I’ll post below.

Rocket Launch 10/02/21

Had some chuffs, bad ignitors, battery issues, CATOs and lawn darts.

It’s been a while since we’d got together for a launch, 07/03/21 was the last. Lots of rain and scheduling conflicts but it all worked out this weekend. It was in the low 80’s and overcast, for the first 2/3 of the launch, but the winds were mostly calm and we had fun.

Rocket Launch (01/02/21)

Soggy, from the rain the day before, but a beautiful day. The temperature was 63, and in the sun felt warmer. The wind was light and the sky was mostly sunny until 3 pm when the clouds started rolling in for the evening rain. It was a great day for flying rockets.

Rocket Launch (11/07/20)

Rain? We left in the unpredicted rain, drove in the rain and arrived in the rain. Luckily, about 30 minutes after we arrived the rain stopped and we even got a little sun during the day. The wind was worse up in the sky so the rockets, under parachute, drifted a little far at times, but overall a great day and about 72 degrees.
