Another nice day, a little hot, but there was a cooling breeze. It was mostly cloudy with the clouds thinning out by days end. Ken Frye, who has been ill, came by to check out the festivities and we spent a good while catching up with him. There was a couple of eroneous flights including a loud and spectatular CATO of a C11-0.

The Estes Meteor Masher was given to me by Ken Frye. It is a Skill level 2 model with a Maximum altitude of 475 ft. A slide action midsection releases three deep space cluster bombs at apogee, which have streamers attached for recovery. It was an Estes 2003 release. The recommended motors for this kit is the B4-2, B4-4, B6-2, B6-4, C6-3, C6-5. This kit is somewhat heavy for it’s size.
CHAD Staging

It’s called CHAD staging if it’s a naked motor booster taped to the sustainer. Thus the term Cheap and Dirty. You simly take a motor like a D12-0 and tape it directly to your rockets motor, say a D12-3. The rocket needs to be very stable as this will shift the CG backwards.

Kevin flew his FlisKit Praetor staged from a C11-0 to a C6-5. The C11-0 CATOed before it staged. The engine failed on the previous flight (3/2/24) but lit the upper stage for a successful flight. FlisKits opened in 2002. The company was founded by Jim Flis and Brian McCarthy. They grew the company over the years until a total of 88 kits were available. At the start of 2019, Ray DiPaola and Eric Henderson acquired the company and all pieces and parts.
