Rocket Launch 07/19/2025

Another fun day.

Another hot day, about 93 degrees. The wind was blowing about 25-30 mph, but occasionally would calm down so we could try to get in another flight. Joe couldn’t get this ignitor to fire a rocket, but had no trouble here. As always, we had a great time flying rockets.

Rocket Launch 04/19/25

An altimeter is a small electronic device used to measure the altitude a rocket reaches during its flight.

The weather was a little better this time, pretty hot – 86 degrees – but the wind was blowing, keeping it tolerable. That wind was strong at times, but would die down occasionally to almost nil. Kevin flew his altimeter a few times and recorded some altitudes that I’ll post below.

Rocket Launch 12/07/2024

Kevin started us with a Flash Pan launch.

Wow, what a beautiful day! There was not a cloud in the sky, light winds, and the temperature was in the low 50s, very comfortable. We had one Cato, but most of the flights were perfect, most landing for easy recovery by Wyatt, who volunteered to recover most of the flights.

Rocket Launch 08/17/24

Kevin’s scratch-built Bullet Skeet flew spectacularly on 3 x C5-0s. I also learned how to spell Hors d’oeuvre.

We decided to get an early start and beat the heat. It was 72 degrees F at 9am and 84 degrees F when we left around noon. I noticed that it was up to 90 degrees F when we left the restaurant, where we had lunch, at about 1:30 pm. The sky was clear with a slightly increasing breeze through the morning. We had a great time.

Rocket Launch (06/17/23)

Our Roy Green Memorial Launch

It had been a while since our last launch but this was a great day weather-wise. Rather hot, muggy, but hardly a breeze. It was our first launch since our rocketry friend Roy Green died, so I’m dedicating this launch to him.

Rocket Launch 10/02/21

Had some chuffs, bad ignitors, battery issues, CATOs and lawn darts.

It’s been a while since we’d got together for a launch, 07/03/21 was the last. Lots of rain and scheduling conflicts but it all worked out this weekend. It was in the low 80’s and overcast, for the first 2/3 of the launch, but the winds were mostly calm and we had fun.

Rocket Launch (01/02/21)

Soggy, from the rain the day before, but a beautiful day. The temperature was 63, and in the sun felt warmer. The wind was light and the sky was mostly sunny until 3 pm when the clouds started rolling in for the evening rain. It was a great day for flying rockets.
