Rocket Launch 12/07/2024

Kevin started us with a Flash Pan launch.

Wow, what a beautiful day! There was not a cloud in the sky, light winds, and the temperature was in the low 50s, very comfortable. We had one Cato, but most of the flights were perfect, most landing for easy recovery by Wyatt, who volunteered to recover most of the flights.

What is Albedo?

Any albedo in visible light falls within a range of about 0.9 for fresh snow to about 0.04 for charcoal, one of the darkest substances.

Albedo refers to the measure of the reflectivity of a surface, precisely how much sunlight is reflected into space compared to how much is absorbed. It is usually expressed as a percentage, where a value of 0% indicates a perfectly absorptive surface (all sunlight is absorbed), and a value of 100% indicates a perfectly reflective surface (all sunlight is reflected).

What are Technosignatures?

NASA began supporting the scientific search for technosignatures as part of the larger search for extraterrestrial life.

Technosignatures are indicators or evidence of advanced extraterrestrial civilizations, manifested through various means such as artificial structures, communication networks, or other technological artifacts. The search for technosignatures encompasses a broad range of scientific efforts and methodologies aimed at detecting such signs.

99942 Apophis

An impact would release energy equivalent to over 1,200 megatons of TNT.

99942 Apophis is an S-type (silicaceous1) asteroid with an approximate diameter of 1,210 feet. This is an asteroid that primarily consists of silicate minerals and nickel-iron. It has a relatively low albedo2 of 0.23, indicating a somewhat reflective surface.

Moon Trees

Varieties of trees such as Loblolly Pine, Sycamore, Sweetgum, Redwood, and Douglas Fir.

Moon trees are a unique botanical phenomenon that embodies the intertwining of space exploration and terrestrial life. Originating from seeds that journeyed to the moon aboard NASA’s Apollo 14 mission in 1971, these seeds were carried in the command module by astronaut

Including a spectacular (and odd) CATO

It rained all day Friday and into early Saturday morning, followed by a heavy fog. We decided late Saturday morning to give the launch a try. Although overcast a good bit of the day, it was about 64 degrees with hardly any wind. Besides the ground being mushy, it was a great day to launch rockets, with most landing near the pad.

Kecksburg Acorn Shaped UFO

Some described it as a large, acorn-shaped object with distinctive hieroglyphic-like markings on its surface.

The Kecksburg UFO incident of 1965 is a well-known case of an alleged unidentified flying object (UFO) sighting and subsequent government involvement in the United States. It occurred on December 9, 1965, when numerous eyewitnesses reported seeing a fireball streaking across the sky over several U.S. states, including Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

‘Oumuamua

The first interstellar object detected passing through the Solar System.

‘Oumuamua (pronounced oh-MOO-ah-MOO-ah) is a highly elongated, cigar-shaped object that became a topic of significant interest in the field of astronomy when it was discovered on October 19, 2017, by astronomers using the Pan-STARRS1 telescope in Hawaii[1].

Black Knight Satellite

The satellite is claimed to have been orbiting Earth for approximately 13,000 years.

The Black Knight satellite is a spacecraft of extraterrestrial origin in near-polar orbit of the Earth, and NASA is covering up its existence and origin. The satellite is claimed to have been orbiting Earth for approximately 13,000 years.
