Several Actors and Musicians passed away in February of 2025.

These guys played keyboards in bands like Soft Machine, appeared in films such as Private Benjamin and soap operas like Another World and One Life to Live, sang doo-wop in groups like The Flamingos and recorded Northern Soul albums, and were in movies like Annie Hall and TV such as Night Gallery, The Lucie Arnaz Show, and Law and Order.

Song Meanings: Wish You Were Here

We’re just two lost souls, Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year

“Wish You Were Here” is one of Pink Floyd’s most beloved songs, featured as the title track on their 1975 album “Wish You Were Here.” The song is widely considered a tribute to the band’s original frontman, Syd Barrett, who had to leave the group in 1968 due to mental health issues exacerbated by heavy drug use. The song “Wish You Were Here” was primarily written by Roger Waters and David Gilmour, the band’s bassist and guitarist, respectively.

My Favorite Long Songs (Part Two)

So what is the average length of a song these days? The average length of a popular song, according to the most recent Billboard Hot 100, is about 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Hit songs are about 3 minutes long because of two major factors: the historic popularity of the 45 rpm record and the monetization methods applied by radio stations and record producers throughout the 20th century. Here I’ll discuss some of my all-time favorite lengthy tunes.

Jeff Beck Dies

One of the three greatest guitarists of all time that played with the Yardbirds!

Geoffrey Arnold Beck (Jeff Beck) was born June 24, 1944, to Arnold and Ethel Beck at 206 Demesne Road, Wallington, South London. As a boy, he sang in the choir and cited Les Paul as the first guitarist that impressed him.

Pink Floyd – Doyle’s Space: Music Hall of Fame

My 4th inductee is the incredible Pink Floyd. In 1973, a friend of mine had the 45 of “Money/Any Colour You Like” and I was hooked. Soon, I would, like everyone else, buy a copy of the Dark Side of the Moon LP. I later went back to their beginnings, and as a psychedelic fan, was not disappointed.
