The return of NASCAR after the worst of Covid-19 was a success. Kevin Harvick (#4 Ford) was the winner and Chase Elliott (#9 Chevy) came in 4th. This was the first race since March. For more go here.

[Wikipedia] Phoenix Raceway is a 1-mile, low-banked tri-oval race track located in Avondale, Arizona, near Phoenix. The motorsport track opened in 1964 and currently hosts two NASCAR race weekends annually. Phoenix Raceway has also hosted the CART, IndyCar Series, USAC and the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The raceway is currently owned and operated by NASCAR.
The raceway was originally constructed with a 2.5 miles (4.0 km) road course that ran on both the inside and the outside of the main tri-oval. In 1991 the track was reconfigured with the current 1.51 miles (2.43 km) interior layout. Phoenix Raceway currently has an estimated grandstand seating capacity of around 51,000. Lights were installed around the track in 2004 following the addition of a second annual NASCAR race weekend. A further reconfiguration in 2011 increased the banking slightly, removed the road course entirely and removed the grass and curbing inside of the dogleg, giving sanctioning bodies the option of whether or not to allow drivers to shortcut the dogleg and run on the now-paved apron that replaced the grass. Renovations in 2018 reconfigured the pit road and infield areas, and moved the start/finish line to just coming out of what was turn 2 (now turn 4), before the dogleg.
Phoenix Raceway is home to two annual NASCAR race weekends, one of 13 facilities on the NASCAR schedule to host more than one race weekend a year.[3] In 2020 the fall race is part of NASCAR Championship Weekend.
Watched the Auto Club 400 today. Alex Bowman wins, Chase Elliott came in 4th and Kyle Busch finished 2nd.
Joey Logano won the Las Vegas race today. Chase Elliott won two stages today, totaling three so far. He led 70 laps but had a flat, late in the race, that caused him to go a lap down. The next race is the Southern California Auto Club, Sunday, 03/01/20 and the Gran Marshal will be David Boreanez!
The Daytona 500 ran 20 laps on Sunday before being rained out. They continued on Monday with Denny Hamlin winning in double overtime. Chase Elliott scored a stage win. Ryan Newman was in a horrible crash and slid on his roof for a long way down the track. He was taken to the Hospital and has serious injuries but they are not life threatening. [Update 2/19/20 – Ryan walked out of the hospital today! He also slid across the finish line so he was scored in 9th place.]
204 mph in the draft. Only 4 cars would finish the race. Should have been called the Busch Crash! Erik Jones wins, Chase Elliott came in 7th.

Traveled to Alpharetta after work today, met Tim, and went to Milton High School to watch the Varsity Milton Eagles boys play North Forsyth in basketball. They are very good this year, 21-4-0 overall and 10-0-0 in the region.They won tonight 73-59. Milton is ranked 107th in the nation and 3rd in Georgia. This was the last regular season game of the year, Playoffs are next.
