Black Widow (1954)

I watched the 1954 DeLuxe Color film noir in CinemaScope on Netflix DVD directed by Nunnally Johnson . Nanny Orway, played by Peggy Ann Garner (Jane Eyre, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, Junior Miss), moves from Savannah, Georgia to New York City to try a career as a writer and is murdered. Everything pins the deed on Peter Denver, played by Van Heflin (Johnny Eagar, Shane, 3:10 to Yuma-1957, Airport), who must now prove his innocence. The movie also stars Ginger Rogers (famous for her films dancing with Fred Astaire),

Gene Tierney (Leave Her to Heaven, Heaven Can Wait, The Razor’s Edge), George Raft (Scarface, Each Dawn I Die, Some Like it Hot, Bolero) and Reginald Gardiner (Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation, Ain’t Misbehavin’).

I enjoyed the movie and will give it 3 out of 5. For more read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
