Helen Reddy lost her battle with dementia and died September 29, 2020 in Los Angeles. In the early seventies the Australian dominated the pop chart and won a grammy for her song “I Am Woman”. She had 15 top 40 hits, including 3 number ones and was the top selling female vocalist in 1973 and 1974. The album “I Am Woman” sold 25 million copies in the United States.

A few of her other hits were Angie Baby, Delta Dawn, Leave Me Alone (Ruby Red Dress), You and Me Against the World and I Don’t Know How To Love Him (her cover of the song from Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Jesus Christ Superstar).

She was on many variety and talk shows including a recurring co-hosting slot on the Midnight Special. Helen appeared in movies such as Airport (1975) and Pete’s Dragon. On July 23, 1974 she received a star, 1750 Vine Street, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I bought many of her albums and singles and remember seeing her all the time on TV. I hear her singing (mostly I Am Woman) on Sirius/XM 70’s on 7.
