I watched the Illumination Entertainment 2016 animated comedy on Netflix DVD today. It is directed by Chris Renaud (Ice Age, Despicable Me, Minions) and Yarrow Cheney (The Lorax, The Grinch) and written by Brian Lynch (Puss in Boots, Despicable Me, Minions) and Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio (Despicable Me, Horton Hears a Who, The Lorax). Max, a Jack Russell Terrier hangs out with his pet friend all day but then his owner gets another dog Duke, a Newfoundland mix.

This is where the trouble begins involving cat gangs, The Flushed Pets lead by Snowball, a white rabbit and Animal Control. Gidget, a white Pomeranian, makes friend with a Red-Tailed hawk, Tiberius, and set out to rescue Max.

The movie stars the voices of Louis C.K. as Max (Stand-up Comedian), Eric Stonestreet as Duke (Modern Family), Kevin Hart as Snowball (Little Fockers, Scary Movie 3, Central Intelligence, Jumanji),

Jenny Slate as Gidget (Saturday Night Live, Bob’s Burgers, Parks and Recreation, Lego Batman) and Dana Carvey (Saturday Night Live, Waynes World). The sequel was released on June 7, 2019 with Patton Oswalt (Agents of SHIELD, King of Queens, The Couch) taking the Max role.

I thought the movie was very cute and funny, laughed out loud several times, and will give it 3.9 out of 5 stars. For more information read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
