The Frozen Ghost (1945)

I watched the 1945 Universal Pictures horror/mystery “The Frozen Ghost” on Svengoolie. It was the fourth of the six “Inner Sanctum” mystery films (526 radio programs were made starting in 1941 with an eerie creaking door opening and closing the programs). Lon Chaney, Jr. stars as a mentalist/hypnotist, Gregor the Great, who believes he has killed a member of his audience during a show. He quits the shows and takes a job in a Wax museum where the deaths and mysteries continue.

The Frozen Ghost is directed by Harold Young (The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Mummy’s Tomb, Machine Gun Mama ) and produced by Will Cowan (Dead Man’s Eyes, The Cat Creeps, The Thing That Couldn’t Die).

Evelyn Ankers is Maura (The Wolf Man, The Ghost of Frankenstein, Black Beauty, Tarzan’s Magic Fountain), Elena Verdugo is the niece Nina (The House of Frankenstein, Gene Autry and the Mounties, nurse Consuelo on Marcus Welby M.D.),

Martin Kosleck (The Mummy’s Curse, The Spider, House of Horrors, She-Wolf of London, The Flesh Eaters, Agent for H.A.R.M.), Tala Birell (Bringing Up Baby, The Monster Maker, Flash Gordon TV series),

Milburn Stone (The Spider Woman Strikes Back, Calamity Jane and Sam Bass, Operation Pacific, Invaders from Mars, Doc on the TV series Gunsmoke) and Douglass Dumbrille (A Day at the Races, The Three Musketeers, Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion, Davy Crockett and the River Pirates).

The movie is a good mystery and I enjoyed it. I’ll give it 2.8 out of 5 stars. For more information read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
