Emerson, Lake & Palmer to Release Live Box Set October 2021

Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends…

Emerson, Lake & Palmer (ELP) will be releasing “Out Of This World: Live (1970-1997)” a 10LP/7CD box set on October 29, 2021, on BMG Records. This set five of the biggest and most important shows of the last 50 years. Each album has been reimagined with brand new artwork. The vinyl will be five gatefold sleeves with high quality, fully-restored audio mastering.

Both the CD and LP sets will include a 32-page glossy booklet featuring many intimate, rare, and unseen images of the band from legendary photographers including Lynn Goldsmith and Neil Preston. Liner notes are provided by Prog Magazine Editor Jerry Ewing. Two of the Progressive Rock legends have passed away Keith Emerson 1964–2016 (keyboards) and Greg Lake 1964–2016 (bass, guitar, and vocals). Carl Palmer (drummer) was a member of Asia and has his own ELP tribute band.

I could not think of a better way to celebrate this anniversary period for ELP. The box set is one of my proudest moments

Most of the LPs are previously unreleased on vinyl; Phoenix 1997 has never been released. The CDs have been out-of-print for years and never released with this level of artwork and audio quality. ELP’s audacious live performances provided validation that they could really rock with the greatest. The audio has been fully restored audio mastered by ELP expert and renowned mastering engineer Andy Pearce.

I know Keith and Greg would agree with me! Out Of This World is something I will remember for a long time to come. For me, this shows ELP at their very best throughout years of touring and recording. The box set represents the lifeline of our music in our time.

The five shows are Isle Of Wight Festival (1970) which was their second live and in front of 600,000 fans, California Jam (1974) one of their most famous shows, the prodigious musicianship, and showmanship

was second to none and included powerful solo spots from Palmer and Emerson, the latter performing on a spinning piano suspended 50 feet above the celebrating crowd, Works Live Montreal (1977) with the orchestra in tow their majestic

pomp was on display for all to hear, Royal Albert Hall (1992) has them performing classics as well as the brand new “Black Moon” album, and Union Hall, Phoenix (1997) they prove once again that they were quite a formidable live outfit.

From the second concert we were an international success. It went from nothing to something overnight!
