Ford’s BBQ

The Best Thing to come out of 2020

I was shocked twice today about a new restaurant we tried. First, I would have thought this BBQ had been here for years yet it opened in the fall of 2021. The second was how great the service and food were and I’ll definitely be returning here. It was opened by pitmasters Justin Bradford and Jon Jaffin who pride themselves on high-quality smoked meats, made-from-scratch Southern sides with a Mexican twist, and special housemade sauces.

Just off Main Street in Tucker, Georgia, just up from the famous Matthews Cafeteria, you enter and choose to sit inside or the covered outside dining area. We sat inside. Our server was very efficient and nice and we had our drinks and orders placed in just a few minutes.

I went with the Smoked Chicken Wings, the dry rub (they have sweet Agave and Sweet Heat also). For my side, I had the delicious and slightly spicy Cowboy Beans. Tim got the Pulled Pork Platter with Curly Fries and Mac & Cheese.

I thought the crispy wings, which I dipped in Bleu cheese, were top-notch. Tim commented that the pulled pork was the best he’d ever had. I have included the menu as a PDF here for your convenience.

They have a bar and a wide variety of food for dining in and taking out. The build your own Texas Tater looks like a hoot, and they also have a range of tacos to try. I’ll have to try the Queso and maybe the Chili Verde next time. They have desserts as well like banana pudding and a Mexican Coke float. The address we went to was 2337 Main Street Tucker, GA. 30084 (678-691-7075). They have opened another location not far from me, 350 Mead Road, Decatur, Georgia 30030 (404-254-2846).

They are open:

Sunday – Thursday:
11:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Friday – Saturday:
11:00 AM – 10:00 PM

  1. I went to the Oakhurst location with my friend and co-worker Max, Saturday 9/24/2022. We started with the Queso and house fried tortilla chips. The chips and the cheese were delicious. We both got the Jalapeño Creamed corn which was delicious also. Max got the pork plate and I got the 1/2 lb of sliced, smoked jalapeño cheddar sausage links platter. The links were great, very tasty. I’ll put some photos at the bottom of the post.
