Character Deaths in the Breaking Bad Franchise (Spoilers!)

“I will kill your wife, I will kill your son, I will kill your infant daughter.” – Gus (speaking to Walt)

Here I’ll talk about some of the deaths of characters in the Breaking Bad Franchise, that being Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and El Camino. Please note that this information does contain spoilers if you haven’t watched the series.

Better Call Saul: Season 2 Ep. 10 “Klick”

Ximenez Lecerda is a truck driver for Hector Salamanca’s ice cream company, which acts as a smuggling front for the Cartel along the US-Mexico border. Mike steals 250,000 from his truck tire and later he is killed by Marco and Leonel, Hector Salamanca’s cousins.

Better Call Saul: Season 4 Ep. 10 “Lantern”

Jimmy destroys Chuck’s credibility in court by proving his illness was all in his mind, bringing his ex-wife in to winess his outburst in court, and Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill buys out his partership. Feeling he has nothing to live for, he kicks over one of his Coleman lanterns and kills himself in the fire.

Better Call Saul: Season 4 Ep. 4 “Talk”

Twenty one, or so, Espinosa gang members are slaughtered in a shootout with Hector Salamanca’s cousins (one killed by Nacho Varga). The attack on the gang was a strategic move planned by Gus so he would be awarded the now-unclaimed territory by the cartel.

Better Call Saul: Season 4 Ep. 10 “Winner”

Werner Ziegler, the engineer hired to supervise the construction of Gus Fring’s meth superlab, is shot by Mike after not only drunkingly talking about the project to strangers but then attempts to flee the construction site to see his wife, Margarethe.

Better Call Saul: Season 5 Ep. 8 “Bagman”

Mike Ehrmantraut shoots three unnamed Columbian gang members, Matador, Jefe and Tiburón, with a M40A1 rifle, to save the life of Jimmy McGill and to protect Lalo Salamanca’s bail money. The plot finds Jimmy tasked with picking up Lalo’s bail money — some $7 million in cash — at a rendezvous in the Mexican desert where he is saved by Mike.

Better Call Saul: Season 5 Ep. 10 “Something Unforgivable”

At Lalo’s compound, Nacho opens the gate for Gus’s assassins, who are brandishing assault rifles. Nacho flees the compound. Lalo fends off the attack, killing them all, 5 to 7 unnamed mercenaries.

Better Call Saul: Season 6 Ep. 3 “Rock and Hard Place”

Nacho Varga kills himslf to protect his father, Manuel Varga, and avoid being killed by the Cartel. Gus and Mike give Nacho their assurances, with Mike pledging that anyone who tries to go after Manuel “will have to come through me.”

Better Call Saul: Season 6 Ep. 7 “Plan and Execution”

Howard Hamlin arrives at Jimmy and Kim’s apartment to confront them, calling them “soulless” and accusing them of “getting off” on their cons. It’s a dramatic end to the episode that takes a turn into the out-and-out terrifying when Lalo Salamanca shows up and shoots him.

Better Call Saul: Season 6 Ep. 8 “Point and Shoot”

Lalo is at the laundry intending to obtain video evidence for Don Eladio of Gus’ planned meth lab which will prove Gus’ disloyalty to the cartel. During a power outage, Gus gets the upper hand and shoots Lalo who laughs as he succumbs to his injuries and dies.

Breaking Bad: Season 1 Ep. 1 “Pilot” and Ep 3 “…and the Bag’s in the River”

Emilio Koyama and Krazy-8 are Poisoned by phosphine gas created by mixing red phosphorus with hot water in the Winnebago, Krazy-8 recovers but is strangled to death, with a bicycle lock, by Walter White in Jesse’s basement.

Breaking Bad: Season 2 Ep. 2 “Grilled”

Tuco Salamanca is killed by Hank Schrader when he uses the lo-jack in Jesse’s car and locates it in the desert where Tuco has taken Walt and Jesse to a remote, run-down shack. Walt and Jesse have temporarily gotten away as Hank arrives and inadvertently saves them.

Breaking Bad: Season 2 Ep. 6 “Peekaboo”

Skinny Pete is held up by a pair of junkies who make off with an ounce of Jessie and Walt’s meth. To show strength, Jesse hunts down Spooge and his wife to get their meth back. It all goes pretty bad until they try to open the ATM that the meth heads had stolen and the wife lets the ATM crush Spooge’s head for calling her names.

Breaking Bad: Season 2 Ep. 7 “Negro y Azul” and Season 3 Ep. 3 “I.F.T.”

Tortuga, played by Danny Trejo, is a CIA informant to has his head cut off by The Cousins and placed on the back of a large tortoise, that also includes a bomb. Later when the CIA see the tortoise and head they unknowingly set off the bomb and one agent is killed.

Breaking Bad: Season 2 Ep. 11 “Mandala”

After getting orders from some rival dealers, little boy Tomás Cantillo shoots Jesse’s good friend Combo serveral times and kills him. The little boy is killed by the rival dealers sometime after this event, offscreen.

Breaking Bad: Season 2 Ep. 12 “Phoenix”

Jane Margolis, Jesse’s girlfriend, dies on her own vomit due to a heroin overdose. Walt was standing by the bed and could have possible saved her but did nothing because of the threat she opposed to their business.

Breaking Bad: Season 2 Ep. 13 “ABQ”

167 unnamed passengers, on the Wayfarer 515 and JM 21 flights , die as their planes collide in mid-air, over Walt’s neighborhood, inadvertently caused by Donald Margolis, who was suffering emotional strain after the death of his daughter Jane. Bodies, and other debris rains down to the ground.

Breaking Bad: Season 3 Ep. 7 “One Minute” and Ep. 8 “I See You”

The Cousins try to kill Hank who with a warning is able to run his car into Leonel Salamanca and shoots Marco Salamanca in the head with a hollow point bullet. Leonel is getting better in the hospital, so Mike poisons him to cover-up that Gustavo Fring sanctioned the hit on Hank Schrader.

Breaking Bad: Season 3 Ep. 12 “Half Measures”

The two rival dealers that murdered the boy were confronted by Jesse. To save his life, Walt lilled one with his car, a 2004 Pontiac Aztek, and shot the other one in the head.

Breaking Bad: Season 3 Ep. 13 “Full Measure”

Gale Boetticher, the lab technician provided by Gus to work with Walt, was at his apartment when Jesses knocked on his door and shot him in the face with a Beretta 84F.

Breaking Bad: Season 4 Ep. 1 “Box Cutter”

Victor was killed by Gustavo Fring, with a boxcutter, in front of Jesse, Walt, and Mike. He disposed of him for being spotted at the sight of Gale Boetticher’s murder.

Breaking Bad: Season 4 Ep. 10 “Salud”

10 Cartel members, including Don Paco, Don Cesar, Don Renaldo, Don Artuno, Don Cisco, Don Luis, Don Escalada, Benicio Fuentes and Miguel were poisoned by Gustavo Fring using Tequila that he also drank. He was rushed to medical help.

Breaking Bad: Season 4 Ep. 13 “Face Off”

Hector Salamanca, Tyrus Kitt, and Gustavo Fring were killed in the explosion by a pipe bomb detonated from a wheelchair bell. The bomb was constructed and planted by Walt White. Hector Salamanca was glad to committ suicid and take Gus with him.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 5 “Dead Freight”

Drew Sharp was the kid on the bicycle that accidently witnesses Walt’s train robbery. While the others were wondering how to handle the situation, Todd Alquist shot him in the chest.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 7 “Say My Name”

Michael “Mike” Ehrmantraut was shot in the gut by Walt for refusing to give up the names of his men. It was one of the saddest deaths for me as I had imagined Mike making it to the end.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 8 “Gliding All Over”

Dan Wachsberger, Ron Forenall, Andrew Holt, Jack McGann, Isaac Conley, Harris Boivin, Raymond Martinez, Anthony Perez, William Moniz, and Dennis Markowski were all killed in custody by prison inmate members of Jack Welker’s Gang, on orders from Jack Welker who was contracted by Walter White.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 14 “Ozymandias”

Steven Gomez and Hank Schrader were shot and killed during a shootout with Jack Welker’s gang.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 16 “Felina”

Todd Alquist was strangled to death by Jesse with chain shackles, neck broken in revenge for murdering Andrea Cantillo and for imprisoning and torturing him.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 16 “Felina”

Jack Welker and his men were mortally wounded by shots from a remote-activated M60 machine gun. Killed to avenge the murder of Hank Schrader and Steven Gomez and to save Jesse Pinkman from captivity. He had mounted the gun in his trunk and had rigged a remote starter.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 16 “Felina”

When Lydia Rodarte-Quayle calls Todd, Walt answers and informs her that the reason she is ill is because of the ricin he put in her Stevia packet at the diner.

Breaking Bad: Season 5 Ep. 16 “Felina”

Walt is wounded in his gut, from his own M60 machine gun rig. He spends his last moments gazing around the meth lab before suddenly collapsing and dying. The police find his body in the lab moments later.

El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie

Jesse drives to Neil’s shop, where Neil, Casey, and three friends celebrate with escorts and cocaine. After the escorts leave, he asks for $1,800, and Neil refuses. Seeing the Woodsman in Jesse’s waistband, Neil challenges Jesse to a duel for his share of the cash. Jesse agrees, and when Neil reaches for his gun, Jesse shoots him with the Hammerless, which was concealed in his jacket pocket. Casey fires at Jesse, but Jesse kills him with Neil’s gun.
