Calvine UFO

It’s the first time the public has had access to the elusive image, which has been described as the best UFO photo ever taken.

The Calvine UFO sighting is one of the most intriguing and enigmatic UFO incidents in the United Kingdom’s history. It occurred on August 4, 1990, near the village of Calvine in Scotland. On that day, two hikers reported seeing a large, diamond-shaped object in the sky.

They claimed the object was hovering silently before quickly ascending into the sky, closely followed by military aircraft, possibly jets. The witnesses managed to capture several photographs of the mysterious object, which later became the subject of much controversy and speculation. The photographs taken by the hikers were reportedly handed over to the Scottish Daily Record newspaper,

which in turn passed them on to the Ministry of Defence (MoD). However, the photographs were never published, and for many years, they were considered lost. This fueled numerous conspiracy theories, with some suggesting that the images had been intentionally suppressed to prevent public panic or to hide advanced military technology.

There were no ‘known’ Harriers were flying in Perthshire on August 4, 1990. The only other British Harriers were privately owned by BAE Systems, the defence contractor. They used their Harriers as multi-roll defence test platforms, testing BAE advanced technology.

For over three decades, the whereabouts of the Calvine photographs remained a mystery, and the incident faded into the realm of UFO lore. The UK government, through the MoD, maintained a policy of neither confirming nor denying the existence of extraterrestrial life, which only added to the intrigue surrounding the case. The incident was often cited by UFO enthusiasts as one of the most credible pieces of evidence

due to the detailed descriptions provided by the witnesses and the alleged photographic proof. In recent years, the mystery of the Calvine UFO photographs took an unexpected turn. In 2022, one of the original photographs surfaced, reigniting interest in the case. David Clarke, a British UFO researcher, played a crucial role in bringing the photo to light. Clarke, who has worked extensively with declassified UFO files from the UK government,

managed to obtain the photograph from a former RAF officer who had retained a copy. This photograph showed a clear image of the diamond-shaped object, offering tangible evidence to support the witnesses’ claims. The discovery of the photograph has led to renewed discussions and investigations into the Calvine incident.

Sadly, I do not think that mysterious aircraft arrived from another galaxy. I believe it was man-made somewhere in a secret hangar—and whatever it was remains on the secret list and highly sensitive. The other option is that the whole thing is a practical joke, a prank that got out of hand

David Clarke – British journalist

Researchers are once again examining the details of the sighting, considering various explanations ranging from secret military aircraft to extraterrestrial visitors. The photo has also prompted calls for greater transparency from the government regarding UFO sightings and the release of all related documents. Despite the new evidence, the Calvine UFO remains an unsolved mystery.

While the photograph provides a compelling visual account of the sighting, it raises more questions than answers. The true nature of the object seen over Calvine continues to elude definitive explanation, ensuring its place as one of the most fascinating and enduring UFO cases in history.
