District 9 (2009)

Great movie, kinda takes an opposite view on the Alien invasion story. I watched the 2009 Peter Jackson movie, District 9, on Netflix DVD. There is a malfunctioning alien spacecraft hovering over Johannesburg, South Africa. The aliens are controlled by the humans by keeping them in District 9. Twenty years has passed and the story is about one alien trying to make an escape and repair the main ship.

The 30 million dollar movie is directed by Neill Blomkamp (a 3D animator) who wrote the film, along with screenwriter Terri Tatchell, who made a 2006 short film Alive in Joberg. It is produced by Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, King Kong, The Hobbit, Mortal Engines, The Beatles: Get Back) and Carolynne Cunningham (assistant director on such as King Kong, The Hobbit, Pitch Black, Peter Pan, King Kong and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy) and it stars Sharlto Copley

(A-Team, Maleficent, Chappie, Elysium), Jason Cope (Dredd, Doomsday, Alive in Joburg), and David James. I really like this movie so I’m going to give it 4.5 out of 5 stars. For more on the movie read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes (one of the highest ratings I’ve seen on RT).
