Enola Holmes (2020)

I watched this mystery movie, based on the Nancy Springer book series “The Enola Holmes Mysteries” on Netflix. It was set for theatrical release but because of Covid-19 was sold to Netflix by Warner Brothers. It is about the teenager, Enola Holmes, sister to Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. She is raised by her mother who taught her to be an intelligent, strong willed, physically crafty and independent woman.

When her mother disappears Enola sets out to locate her with one brother, her ward Mycroft, out to find her and send her to finishing school and the other, Sherlock Holmes the detective, out to solve the mystery of her and their mothers disappearance. The movie stars Millie Bobby Brown who does a great job as Enola Holmes (Eleven in Stranger Things, Godzilla:King of Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong), Louis Partridge as Tewksbury,

Henry Cavill as Sherlock (Red Riding Hood, Imortals, Superman in Man of Steel, Napoleon Solo in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, Mission Impossible – Fallout), Sam Claflin as Mycroft Holmes (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Snow White and the Huntsman, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire/Mockingjay 1&2, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, Charlie’s Angels),

Helena Bonham Carter (A Room with a View, Lady Jane, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Fight Club, Planet of the Apes, Lemony Snicket’s: A Series of Unfortunate Events, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Emily in the Corpse Bride, Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Harry Potter series of movies, Terminator Salvation, the Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland, Dr. Julia Hoffman in Dark Shadows, Les Misérables, The Lone Ranger, Cinderella, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Ocean’s 8) and

Frances de la Tour ( 2 Harry Potter movies, The Book of Eli, Hugo, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Alice in Wonderland, Outlander). The movie is directed by Harry Bradbeer and produced by Mary Parent, Alex Garcia, Ali Mendes, Millie Bobby Brown and Paige Brown. Millie Bobby Brown and Bradbeer have acknowledged their intentions for a sequel. I enjoyed this movie and will give it 4 out of 5 stars.
