I watched the 2020 Amazon Studios spy comedy “My Spy”, filmed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on Amazon Prime. It is about JJ, a former US Special Forces soldier, that has been hired by the CIA. His rough handling of situations gets him assigned to a low risk surveillance job of Kate, an in-law to a French illegal arms dealer. The nine year old daughter of Kate, Sophie, finds his cameras, his monitoring station and that he is CIA. To keep her from outing him, which would get him fired, he has to comply with all her wishes.
My Spy is directed by Peter Segal (Naked Gun 33⅓: The Final Insult, Tommy Boy, Nutty Professor II: The Klumps, Anger Management, 2005 The Longest Yard, 2008 Get Smart)
and written by Jon and Erich Hoeber (Red, Battleship, Whiteout, The Meg). JJ is played by Dave Bautista (wrestler, MMA, House of the Rising Sun, The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, Riddick,
Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 and Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, Blade Runner 2049), Sophie is played by Chloe Coleman, her mother Kate is played by Parisa Fitz-Henley (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, 2020 Fantasy Island),
and Ken Jeong (Knocked Up, The Hangover movies, Zookeeper, Avengers: Endgame). A possible sequel has been in discussion with the same cast returning.
The movie is funny and I’ll give it 3.75 out of 5 stars. For more information read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
