
Anthony Jared Zerbe (born May 20, 1936, in Long Beach, California) is an American actor known for his intense and versatile performances on stage, television, and film. The son of Arthur LeVan Zerbe and Catherine Scurlock, he grew up in California,

graduated from Newport Harbor High School, and earned a degree from Pomona College in 1958 before studying acting at the Stella Adler Studio in New York. He served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1961 before launching his professional acting career, making his New York stage debut in The Cave Dwellers in 1961.

Zerbe became a sought-after television guest star in series such as Mission: Impossible, Columbo, Gunsmoke, and The Virginian, and won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1976 for Outstanding Continuing Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Lieutenant K.C. Trench in Harry O. His notable film roles include Matthias in The Omega Man (1971),

Milton Krest in Licence to Kill (1989), Admiral Matthew Dougherty in Star Trek: Insurrection (1998), and Councillor Hamann in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions (both 2003).

Beyond screen work, he has been active in regional theater, including serving as artistic director for the “Reflections, A New Plays Festival” at the GeVa Theatre in Rochester, New York. He married actress Arnette Jens (sister of Salome Jens) on October 7, 1962, and they have two children, Jennet and Jared LeVan.
