I watched the 1958 American International Pictures black and white sci-fi/horror movie “Earth vs The Spider” on Svengoolie. Carol’s father didn’t come home and she gets Mike to help her look for him. They find his wrecked truck and thinking he might have crawled into a nearby cave, go to look. What they find is a sticky web, a giant spider and horror. Carol is played by June Kenney (Attack of the Puppet People, The Ladies Man, Bloodlust!), her dad, Mr. Kingman, is played by Ed Kemmer (a fighter pilot in World War II, Buzz Cory in Space Patrol, Giant from the Unknown)
Hank Patterson (Fred Ziffel on Green Acres, Tarantula!, The Amazing Colossal Man, Attack of the Puppet People, Monster on the Campus, The Absent Minded Professor) and Merritt Stone (War of the Colossal Beast, The Magic Sword).
Earth vs The Spider was produced, directed and written by Bert I. Gordon (Serpent Island, King Dinosaur, The Cyclops, A Amazing Colossal Man, War of the Colossal Beast, Attack of the Puppet People, Village of the Giants, Empire of the Ants) who also did the special technical effects.
The movie was filmed at Bronson Caves, in Griffith Park, near Los Angeles. Some of the cave interiors are stills from Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico. This is a good horror film and I’ll give it 3 out of 5 stars.
