Estes Torellian Invader

My friend Tim built this Estes kit, Catalog number 1343 back in 1980. He gave it to me, when he was cleaning up around the house, some 40 yeas later to fly it for the first time. My only repair was that I replaced the elastic shock cord with Kevlar. The rocket flies great. The first flight was with and A8-3 and then I went to a C6-5. The original chute, he had in there, worked perfectly also. The model came in a combo pack with the Orion Starfighter.

The Torellian Invader is described in the catalog as a galactic invader and primary attack fighter from the Torellian Empire. Capable of deploying Zarchronian space mines and launching ion-photonic torpedoes. It included realistic reptilian décor, die-cut balsa fins, quick release engine mount and 12”recovery parachute.

The length: 20.0″, Diameter: 0.976″, Weight: 1.29 oz. and the recommended 18 mm Engines are: A8-3, B4-2, B4-4, B6-2, B6-4, B14-5, C6-5, C6-7. The combo pack was offered between 1980 and 1983 the same time as the Galatic Pirates (Patrol Cruiser Excaliber and the Dragon Ship 1) theme kits and the Black Hole Space Probe. Tim did a great job with the painting and decals. This is a really nice skill level 3 rocket from back in the good old days.
