I watched this 2013 Summit Entertainment movie “Warm Bodies” on Netflix DVD. The film is based on Isaac Marion‘s 2010 novel, which was inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. The zombie, we’ll know as “R” is the star and narrating the movie. He doesn’t remember much about how he got this way or even his name. He ends up eating the brain of Julie’s boyfriend Perry and obtain’s his memories and love for her. He then saves her from the other zombies and takes care of Julie throughout the film.

This paranormal romantic zombie comedy is directed by Jonathan Levine (Love Bytes, Snatched, Long Shot) and produced by David Hoberman (George of the Jungle, Antitrust, Original Sin, The Shaggy Dog, The Divergent Series: Insurgent,

The Divergent Series: Allegiant), Todd Lieberman (Five Fingers, Wild Hogs, The Lazarus Project, Surrogates, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, The Divergent Series: Allegiant) and Bruna Papandrea (Hot Pursuit, Lucy in the Sky).

“R” is played by Nicholas Hoult (Clash of the Titans, Henry “Hank” McCoyin X-Men movies, Dark Phoenix and Deadpool, Jack the Giant Slayer, Young Ones, Mad Max: Fury Road, Nikola Tesla in The Current Wars, and Max Bryson on the Walking Dead.

Julie is played by Teresa Palmer (Wolf Creek, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, I Am Number Four, Hacksaw Ridge),

Perry is played by Dave Franco (Fright Night, Now You See Me movies, The Lego Movie’s), and “M” is played by Rob Corddry (Blades of Glory, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Hot Tub Time Machine, Sex Tape, TV episodes of The Daily Show).

The movie also stars Analeigh Tipton (The Green Hornet, Lucy, TV episodes of The Big Bang Theory, Cory Hardrict (Never Been Kissed, Driftwood, Gran Torino, Battle: Los Angeles, Transcendence), and

John Malkovich (The Killing Field, Dangerous Liaisons, Jennifer 8, In the Line of Fire, Con Air, The Man with the Iron Mask, Rounders, Johnny English, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Eragon, Mutant Chronicles, Jonah Hex, RED movies, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Zoolander 2, Deepwater Horizon).

The movie music is good with songs like “Missing You” by John Waite, “Patience” by Gun N’ Roses, “Rock You Like A Hurricane” by Scorpions, “With a Girl Like You” by The Troggs, and “Oh Pretty Woman” by Roy Orbison.

The extras are excellent. they said they were trying for the PG-13 rating but it was difficult. They shot a Super Gory, Gory, we think this is safe and definitely safe versions and let the MPAA judge. The extras include Boy Meets, Er. Doesn’t Kill Girl, R&J (Julie),

A Little less Dead, Extreme Zombie Makeover, A Wreck in Progress (making locations look old and worn), and Bustin’ Caps (guns and fighting scenes). There is an audio commentary with director Jonathon Levine, Nicholas Hoult, and Teresa Palmer. For the fight scene at the end of the movie, they have over 200 extras. They shot the main parts of the movie in the abandoned Olympic Stadium in Montreal and the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport. I liked this movie, a great zombie story and funny. I’ll give it 4.8 out of 5 stars. I’ll give the extras 5 out of 5 stars. For more information read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
