I watched the 2000, Lions Gate Films movie, American Psycho – uncut version on Netflix DVD. It is set in 1987, about New York investment banker Patrick Bateman played by Christian Bale (Reign of Fire, The Machinist, Batman in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy 2005-2012, 3:10 to Yuma, John Conner in Terminator Salvation, American Hustle, Ken Miles in Ford v Ferrari) a yuppie hanging with and trying to out-do his shallow friends, with a serial killer second life.
The movie is gruesome at times and a little confusing trying to separate the comments he is saying from the comments he wishes (or thinks) he is saying. This movie is full of very dark humor, slasher elements, sex and nudity.
The movie also stars Willem Dafoe as the detective (To Live and Die in LA, Jesus in The Last Temptation of Christ, Born on the Fourth of July, Flight of the Intruder, Clear and Present Danger,
Reg E. Cathey (Dr. Franklin Storm in the 2015 reboot of Fantastic Four). Christian Bale is excellent in the movie and the extras are superb. The 80’s soundtrack is good with the likes of David Bowie, The Cure, John Cale, New Order, Tom Tom Club, Huey Lewis and the News, Simply Red, Genesis, Phil Collins, Robert Palmer and Depeche Mode. I’ll give the DVD extras 5 out of 5, and the movie 3.8 out of 5. For more information read Wikipedia, IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
